Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As the school year is beginning, it can be difficult for students to get back into routine and stay focused throughout the day. This “calming corner” will allow students to relax, take a little break and refocus their mind to return to learning at their fullest potential.
One student at time will enter the space and set a 5 minute timer and choose a tool to help relieve their stress and mind.
They can choose anything from sensory and fidget toys, practicing yoga through yoga cards or reading a mindfulness book. These independent activities will help students independently relieve negative emotions and create a place to check-in with their emotions and feelings to avoid a situation escalating. This space will provide a positive and productive environment in the classroom.
