My Project
Each year, I provide individual and group counseling services to the students at our school. I primarily work with students receiving special education services with Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals focusing on emotional regulation, whole body listening, self-esteem, coping skills, anxiety management, and social interaction.
With this project, I'm hoping to expand my social-emotional library and my counseling tool box to address the needs of my students.
I chose many books that will help supplement and enhance the lessons and activities that I create on managing anger, coping with anxiety and sadness, improving their attention and focus in the classroom, and being a caring and responsible student.
Processing complex emotions and learning essential social-emotional skills can sometimes be difficult and tiring. Ensuring that I have fresh, fun, and new materials can drastically impact student engagement and willingness to participate in counseling and develop positive associations with expressing their feelings in a safe space.
