My Project

As the school counselor I would like to see all classrooms at my school use a Calm Box to help provide students a place to regulate their emotions. Many students struggle to learn in the classroom when they are dysregulated. Teachers often spend classroom and teaching time helping individual students manage their emotions and get back to learning. I am working on giving all classrooms and students in my school tools to help students learn how to self-regulate. I would like to provide each classroom with lessons on self-regulation and breathing strategies to help students manage their emotions and behavior and get back to learning as quickly as possible. The resources from this project will help provide each classroom with tactile, sensory or therapeutic tools designed to help students take a break and regulate their emotions. I feel that the benefits of students’ learning how and when to use a calm box to self-regulate will help students learn and save teachers and administrators time with behavior management.
