This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a small class and in a way, a little family! My kids come from all sorts of backgrounds and bring a variety of experiences with them. Some kids have access to many resources while others are enrolled on many of our school assistance programs. Every child is unique and special in their own way but the one thing they have in common is that they love school and enjoy coming every day.
My kids are incredibly caring of each other and committed to helping each other be their very best.
My Project
The last two years have been a wild experience for so many kids everywhere, but despite all the uncertainty, my class shows up everyday, happy, committed, and ready to learn. We're a small classroom family, and just like any other family, we have great happy moments, and moments when we need room to breathe. A calm corner is a perfect addition to any classroom because it has so many benefits.
Your donation would help create a safe space for kids to regroup themselves.
We currently have a small section in our room for kids to "take a reset break" but it is missing a lot of details. With the Big Joe bean bags, kids will have the opportunity to go to a safe and comfortable spot in the room to calm down and reset. The variety in fidget toys, calming books, and pillows will serve as good options for kids to use as they work to self-regulate themselves. The headphones are also helpful for when kids want a moment to think to themselves. All of these additional items will help create the calming corner my kids deserve to help them regain a calm body and a happy heart!
