This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Having a calming corner has been essential in my class. I recognize having a well-put-together space allows my 6th graders to manage their feelings or take a break when they are having a difficult experience at school. The noise canceling headphones allow students to listen to classical music to help them focus as well as help with noise-disruption for students who want to filter out irrelevant noises, becoming uncomfortable and distracted. Other sensory soother I would like to include our classroom calming corner is the waterfall fountain and the ambiance color changing lamp.

These calming tools will allow my students to relieve stress, gives them an outlet for hyperactive feelings that aren't disruptive to the learning environment.

My goal is to have the calming corner be a place in my classroom that is utilized and have the skills are built and internalized.
