Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We spend a lot of time on social emotional learning in our 3rd grade classroom. We talk about feelings and how to resolve conflict. Although we work on being good friends who work together, sometimes we need time to ourselves.
The calming area in our classroom will give us time to refocus, decompress, and center our thoughts on a positive mindset.
A rug and seat cushions will give the students designated spaces for "alone time." Aromatherapy diffuser, fidget toys and scented markers will provide an outlet for various sensory needs. A breathing ball and mindful maze boards will teach my students specific strategies for self awareness and regulation. The breakfast tray will corral all the resources students can use in the calming corner and keep them organized and accessible.
