My students need access to a sensory table with modeling sand and toys, there will also be items visual simulation like light up balls and bubble timers. In the sensory center I would like for my students to independently find ways for them to self calm and sooth themselves during high stressful times.
We are in a very special Elementary School with an amazing administration and staff that are very supportive of our students. Each of our students has unique needs, this can pose a challenge for the teachers simply because each goal has to be planned, taught and reinforced in a different style for each of them.
My students are superheros who have overcome a lot, they never let anything slow them down.
The word disabilities have been changed to ABILITIES, we never see what can't be done but what can be done. Spend a little time with my students you will feel so much love and enthusiasm of learning.
My Project
The students in my classroom are special learners, there are several factors that can impact my students' ability to learn. To us sounds, lights, change of plans, or weather may not affect our learning, for my students it can make their ability to learn very hard. With a use of a sensory center the students will be able to freely go and calm and sooth themselves as needed to insure that learning can continue during stressful times. In the center students will have access to a sensory table with modeling sand and toys, there will also be items visual simulation like light up balls and bubble timers. The materials needed for the center will benefit all child in the classroom now and in the future.
