This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is home to many ELL students who come from different socio-economic backgrounds. Nevertheless, my students are creative, thoughtful, and full of excitement!
They inspire me daily with their inquisitiveness, never-ending questions, and always so exciting, artistic expressions.
As a teacher, I know the importance of reading to my students at their age. I am so excited to see how they will be inspired to be great readers!
My Project
We will use the novel to do in-depth novel studies. Reading is essential to their success! The discussions will increase their reading comprehension, vocabulary, the ability to put their thoughts into words and most importantly their self-confidence. The will have the opportunity to share their thinking with the whole class and partners. Students who read novels find reading fun, and they learn more English as they read! Our classroom also needs a carpet for our small group learning area. Everyone needs a spot on the carpet! Having a carpet in the small group area will create a better learning environment by giving everyone a spot and eliminating students not knowing where to sit. Students need routine and structure and a carpet for whole group will help create that in the classroom.
