My Project
We begin each Session with Crew. Each child is greeted by their classmates, we share stories, and play cooperative games. Crew sets the tone for the rest of our day; it helps the children feel welcome and safe so learning can take place.
Kindness starts with Me!
Our students come from all over our city and neighboring towns, so we are more than just a neighborhood school. We are both ethnically and economically diverse. We teach our students that "Our Differences Make Us Stronger." We are an Expeditionary Learning school.
“We are Crew, not Passengers!”
The rooms are nice at our school, but there are no carpets and just tiled floor. The school district will not supply carpets. However, my students need a carpet to sit on during Crew, story time, for various lessons, and more.
A carpet will help my students be more comfortable and in turn, will help my students pay more attention. As a result, a carpet will help more learning take place.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
