This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Calling Donors Choose! Many of my Pre-k students lack print rich resources such as books in their homes.
Many content skills are taught through quality children's literature in the classroom. Every time I see a child pick up a book, retell a story or review a lesson that was previously taught in class, it gives me the reassurance that the lesson was greatly enjoyed. During any given available time, my students seem to almost always gather around the library area. The passion and love for reading seems to be very contagious in my classroom. Unfortunately, there aren't many books to choose from. I currently, have about 60 books in my library collection. We read about 3 books a day. Within only a short time, the children will be asking for new books. This concerns me because I do not want the children to lose interest in listening to and reading books. Can someone please help me? We are in desperate need of quality children's books, especially books that reflect the lives of my students and their community.
Books that the children can relate to as well as books that expose children to rich language, vocabulary, and fluency will only prepare them for a better future. I hope to make that transition much easier for my students.
Only you can help me make it possible. Your contributions will demonstrate the importance of giving back to the community. My students will feel very important and appreciative to find out that someone who they do not know really cares about them. Sharing is caring......please donate!
