This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My little ones are eager to learn. Being located in a high poverty neighborhood I know I have to provide my students with a wonderful school experience so that they can grow to become life long learners.

Many of my students are unaware of the real reason they are in school.

They arrive at school excited to see their friends and eager to please, but often withdraw from structured learning. I hope that by providing structure, discipline and love to my students they will begin to make the association with school as a safe place where learning is possible.

My Project

My students need hands on learning activities and supplies that will assist them in the daily tasks of instruction. It is such a special experience to loose a tooth, and in Kindergarten it's a sign, a dollar sign, that they are growing up. Students get so excited about the tooth fairy, and we celebrate our teeth by learning how to take care of them. With the PA system, tooth and dental care models students will be able to "call" the Tooth Fairy and leave her a message about how they lost their tooth. In addition, students will use Kwik Check boards, finger spacers and the pencil sharpener to write the Tooth Fairy a note to enclose with their tooth. The remaining requested supplies, butterfly garden, lightening ball, magnets, and sand timers will all be used to engage students in hands on learning during math and science centers. This will help to reinforce the concepts that all Kindergrtners should have upon entering 1st grade.

I am hopeful that this project will come to life.

Kindergarten is the foundation for all students, please help fund our project to give our students the opportunity to advance into 1st grade with the skills they need to succeed.
