Calling All Readers! Books for Independent Reading

Help me give my students books that they will be interested in reading.

My Students

My students are excited to visit the library and check out what is available every time they enter the library. My goal, as the teacher-librarian, is to create lifelong readers and to show my students everything literature has to offer. I teach at a Title I School in south Seattle.

My kindergarten through fifth-grade students are eager to check out books and begin their journey with reading.

I serve a diverse population and strive to encourage and support every student. Because this is a Title I school, my budget for the library is limited and the library budget is often cut. The library is an integral part of the school and I would love to see my library thrive with students reading and discussing literature and authors.

My Project

For the past year our students have had limited access to books due to Covid 19. I'm excited about students being able to check out library books and would love to have additional new books for our library! These books will be used for read a louds and also for checking out. Several of them are part of a series.

When students get hooked on a great book, they then want to read other books by the same author so the series books are especially important.

We hope to build a lifelong habit of reading!
