My Students
Lights! Camera! Action! Get ready for a Third Grade Movie about their community!
I will have 13 or 14 active 8 and 9 year olds that love to be creative.
They love to put on a show. There will be 6 girls and either 7 or 8 boys. The school my students go to is a K-12 school. They come from a small rural Nebraska town that is an agricultural town.
My Project
In years past my students have made hard bound published books that go with their Social Studies unit on their Community. This year I want to go 21st Century and create a movie. To do this we need costumes that fit the history of their community. This includes wigs, hats, dresses, glasses, and occupation outfits. With these costumes the students will reenact certain parts of the town's history, such as the myth about how the town became a town with two stone men. I'm also requesting a green screen so the background of the film can be historical photos of the town not just classroom whiteboards. This will be exciting for the students to see how this works.
Another thing I'm requesting is software to make the movie, as a previous broadcasting major I'm excited to do this extensive editing with my students. The final thing I'm requesting is a red carpet and a printer, so my students can have a proper film premiere after the movie is made with a walk of fame and posters!

Not very many I'm sure. Give my students a chance to create something they will cherish all their lives, while learning about what Nebraska wants them to learn in third grade...their community!
