My students need the same advantage that affluent students have in the classroom. An interactive whiteboard will give them that opportunity to master AP Calculus.

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Can you imagine how it would feel to walk into a testing room without the knowledge or confidence necessary to be successful and pass the exam? That is what my students will experience when they take the AP Calculus exam in May.
My school is a high school that caters to students who have made mistakes in their past, mistakes that can be rectified by attaining what is afforded to all teens, a good education and the same opportunities that others receive.
However, they are often overlooked and disregarded despite their efforts and intelligence. All they need is someone to believe in them and give them another chance. The community they live in is a low socioeconomic area, where teens are forced to make difficult choices, such as working to help their families or staying in school and getting a college education. If they make the choice of eduction, they would be the first person in their family to attend college. However, without the much needed support, they often do not.
My Project
I spent the last two summers attending various workshops and conferences on how to help my underprivileged students be successful in their AP Calculus courses. Listening to speakers and other AP teachers, who have an 80% to 90% pass rate on the AP Exam, has proved to me that I must place all my efforts into turning my students into 21st century learners. I discovered these teachers are more successful with their students because they have access to the technology that introduces mathematical concepts interactively. They use these hands on learning activities that provide them with a better understanding of calculus. Not only would an interactive whiteboard provide my students with the same type of learning experience, it would also allow me to work more closely with my students on one-to-one basis. I would also be able to use the interactive software that fortifies student learning.
The device that I am asking for is one-third to one-fourth the cost of a regular Smart Board.
It turns the whiteboard that I already have into a smart board for a lot less money. I truly believe my students would highly benefit from this type of learning. Please help them be successful. Be the one person who believes in them and gives them that one chance they need to become successful adults who can positively contribute to society
