My Project
My district is rural, and many families struggle to provide their children with essential school supplies. My students are inquisitive and enjoy learning new math concepts they can practice on paper and visualize on a graphing calculator. As a math teacher, I use calculators daily in all my classes. Only a few of my high school students own their calculators, so I provide calculators for use in the classroom. We use the graphing features, statistical programs, and basic features. The TI 83 Plus calculator offers every function needed for my curriculum. Students may check out a calculator from my classroom to use when taking the ACT. We recently gave the ACT to all of our juniors and could not provide a calculator for each student. I aim to provide each student with a calculator when needed in class or during testing. I want to provide my students with the tools that will allow them to perform at their highest level.
