My Students
I teach science and social studies to 6th graders in a very unique and diverse school. My curriculum allows me to introduce students to many aspects of science throughout the school year. This is also a crucial age for students to foster their interests in STEM. I also run the STEM club at my school, for students to use their skills in another outlet.
I am passionate about incorporating STEM concepts into my lesson plans in as many ways as I can.
I believe that these skills, among other things, are what my students need to compete as adults in society.
My Project
My students need calculators to help them complete math problems that go along with our STEM activities. This model of calculator is what my students are accustomed to using in their math class. Additionally, some of the calculators I have are outdated and not functional anymore. Students need to know how to use this tool appropriately, and quickly do be an effective mathematician.
We can't do STEM without the M!!
This is a critical component in preparing my students to think critically and have adequate problem solving skills in a competitive society.
I am looking forward to having more opportunities to integrate STEM into our curriculum with more tools for us to use.
