My school serves enthusiastic students in grades PreK-8. 99% of the students I serve receive free or reduced lunch. In addition, the neighborhoods in which my students live often experience violence. Students refer to school as their safe haven. It is my duty to ensure students are reporting to a safe learning environment.
Even though their living conditions are low, their eagerness to learn is high!
Due to the rigorous academic instruction provided by teachers, my school achieved Level 1 Plus, the highest level of academic success. No one would have expected a rose to grow from concrete, but my school and students serve as a prime example! To continue to foster an environment for learning and academic success, the appropriate tools must be made available to students.
My Project
As new technology drives the 21st century, my students must be able to apply and use the appropriate tools that cater to their success.
EVERY CHILD, COLLEGE BOUND.
Our daily motivation and motto is posted in every hallway and classroom throughout the school building. As the curriculum becomes more rigorous, calculators are a high need resource within my classroom. I encourage my students to refer to the Standards of Mathematical Practice during their learning, whereas, Use Tools serves as a key practice. Students will be able to present their work to the class and use the tool to help explain their thinking!
