Calculators For Class

My students need calculators for math class.

Math students need assistance calculating! I will be teaching math to 4 classes of fifth grade students and we are located in a high poverty area.

My current classroom set of calculators has lasted almost 15 years and the calculators are dying off, one by one. They are also a very simple set, as I have taught mostly 3rd grade math over the years and besides not having enough for all of my students, the fifth graders will need a more advanced calculator to calculate fractions, remainders, etc.

I need 30-40 calculators (we are allowed 35+ students per class). The calculator I chose is the Texas Instruments TI-15 because it is well-suited for fifth graders. It has all of the basic functions, plus more advanced functions to help my students progress with their math skills. This will enable students to effectively operate a calculator on their own during math class and during state mandated tests.

Your assistance will help ensure my students get the same opportunity as students in other districts to effectively learn how to utilize a calculator for a wide variety of situations, both during their classroom instruction and on state mandated tests.
