My Students
My students come from all different backgrounds and cultures. There are over 100 countries represented at our school and over 50 languages spoken. It is such a unique and rewarding place to work.
Many of my students benefit from close student-teacher relationships.
They may not get all the support they need at home, and are motivated by teachers who truly care about them. Many have difficult lives at home.
They are a fun group of kids who like to learn. They make me laugh and I love to teach them!
My Project
In chemistry, we use calculators almost every day. From dimensional analysis to average atomic mass to stoichiometry, calculators are needed in order to solve complex problems.
Many students can't afford their own scientific calculators.
Regular 4 function calculators cause students to spend extra time working on problems, and leave many room for silly errors. Having scientific calculators will allow students to be more efficient and confident in their calculations. I already notice many mistakes students are making just because they do not have a scientific calculator. Students have to write down their answers step by step instead of having the calculator do it all at once!
