My Students
Our school has a diverse student population and offers special education programs for students with various disabilities, including special learning disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorders, deaf/hard of hearing, etc.
I teach 80 freshman high school students with special needs.
It is critical that students have what they need to prepare them for school and have a good experience for their 1st year.
My Project
All students with special needs have calculators as an accommodation to help them be successful in school. The school did not provide my students with calculators. Students will need to practice how to use the calculator in order for them to be successful in class and take standardized testing. I want to provide students with the same set of calculators in school, so they can practice how to enter different numbers and symbols into the calculator to help them be successful. Students are currently using their phone but the different phone has different functions and they can't use their phone during standardized testing. It is beneficial for students to learn how to correctly use the calculator before standardized testing.
