The children in my class are continually excited about learning new things. They have done a stellar job of learning and using the math routines and games taught through our Everyday Math curriculum. The children are learning to use many different strategies and manipulatives in order to develop deeper mathematical knowledge in counting, representing, and problem-solving. They are learning to explain their thinking and have all the materials in order to complete each portion of the daily lessons. We need calculators to complete some of the lesson activities in our curriculum. The children will use calculators to learn basic functions and develop skills such as skip counting and building and decomposing numbers.
