it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are special because they try very hard to be successful despite socioeconomic challenges. Many want to become lawyers or go into law enforcement.
We are a Title I school serving a high-need population with dedicated teachers to support our students' dreams and help them overcome systemic barriers.
Our most pressing need at the moment is access to technology. We are seeking funding for graphing calculators so that each student will be able to use one for classwork and during the Regents exam.
My Project
Graphing calculators are a must for high school math! We do not have enough for each student to have their own during class work and even during the Regents exams, teachers have to scramble to pass calculators from student to student.
Access to technology is an equity issue for our black and brown children.
We want to provide access to this technology to help the students be successful in their math classes and on the Regents. We also want them to feel that they are just as worthy as any student in a wealthier school where access to needed supplies is a given. These are our future leaders so they deserve to have access to a calculator when needed.
