Do you remember a world without the Internet? My students are expected to get an education that puts them in the position to compete for jobs in the global community. I teach through project based learning, teaching my students to work together to solve real world problems.
My class is comprised of 18 students.
We are a community school. Most of our students walk or ride a bike to school. They are from low income families. My students are low, average, above average, and gifted. I have Autistic students mainstreamed into my class. Our school is one of the last true, neighborhood schools. The parents pull together to support their students and teachers the best they can.
My Project
I would like two Ipod touches to use in the classroom. With an Ipod touch, we can take pictures, create movies, and music. I will use the Ipod touches let each student work on his/her own level by creating media that extends our curriculum. For example, the students can read a story, record their voices, find pictures to go with the story, then create a movie, with the voices and pictures. We can then share them on the Internet with other classes and the community. Having the Ipod touches to work with will inspire my students to want to learn.
This is an opportunity for me to have a dream come true: to provide my students with the newest technology.
I would be able to increase my computers by 100%! My absolute dream is to have one per student. I am getting my Master's in Educational Technology. I am learning how to use technology successfully in my classroom. I have learned about so many applications available in the classroom, except my school has one computer lab available.
More than half of students from low‑income households
