This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are part of a blended classroom where there is a mixture of diverse learners with a wide range of abilities and students who come from the neighborhood which is predominantly Mexican-American. We are building the understanding in students that all are welcome in our special needs inclusive classroom.

My classroom is a little lab to practice life skills, make mistakes, and fall in love with learning.

My goal is for my students to understand that learning happens in the world around them, and the best way to teach that is to bring the world to the classroom.

My Project

With a new PreK Sexual Education mandate taking effect this year, we need new resources to teach. I prefer to use books as a useful resource to access the curriculum. Although, I have never read most of these books, I did find a list of books recommended for our age group and chose books from there.

These picture books will help students learn about their bodies, consent and safe touch in a developmentally appropriate way.

Please consider helping our students learn these concepts. Disseminating this information could help the prevention of sexual abuse.
