Celebrating Black History Month

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

While we prepare to end a great school year at Kramer Middle School, we are already thinking of ways to be even MORE prepared for the 2023-2024 school year. Buzzing Back to the Basics is a project that will allow me to do just that over the summer to prepare for a new cohort of 7th graders. Last year was my first year as an educator in the DCPS system and I was not sure on how to welcome my students or purchase items for their academic success in the classroom. What I discovered, unfortunately, was that many of my students did not have the "basic weapons (e.g. pencils, pens papers and even food" to engage in the educational war for success! This year I would like to have academic learning bags that include binders, pencils, pens and snacks to aid in their daily navigation of learning. I am confident that this project will create a strong sense of belonging for students and reassure them that the Kramer family is serious about education and affording students the opportunity to reach optimal success in the classroom.
