My students need a grade level library, Aunt Flossie's Hats, The Statue of Liberty and other books to be exposed to quality literature. We do not have a lot of library books in our classroom.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are predominantly Hispanic and African American. I have a classroom full of energetic six year olds who are ready to learn. No matter my students' background we are one when we are in my classroom. My students are buzzing little first graders. They are in the beginning stages of writing and reading. I am here to facilitate active learning in an enriching environment. I hope to see them shine and grow as we continue to learn together. They will appreciate everything that is donated to our classroom.
My Project
I am a first year teacher and do not have a lot of books for my classroom library. My students are appreciative and read the amount of books I have set in the library. I want to expose my students to a variety of text. I want their literacy and fluency skills to get better. Receiving these books will improve our centers and silent reading time. I want to eventually start flashlight Friday for my students. I will turn off the light and my students will pick a spot around the room. Once they have found that spot they will read their books with their flashlight. I believe this is another way to get my students excited about reading. We are appreciative of whatever donations we receive. Thank you, Buzz, Ms. F.
