My Students

As a teacher, I enjoy seeing the happiness of the students. I work in a Title 1 school, I see many of my students struggle with day to day things. This can include staying awake in class or completing their homework on time. Working in a Title I school, most of my families are low income, which means most of the supplies are bought with money out of my own pocket and that is hard as a first-year teacher. Throughout my class, I have English Language Learner (ELL) students, Special Education, and Regular Education students. Unfortunately, I do not get a budget for the supplies that I need for my classroom, so this will help tremendously.

I have the desire to get students excited to explore the world of science and to learn about the world around them, and this can be done through projects and hands on experiences.

My students need to expand their capacity for critical thinking because their environment does not enable them to do it. I want them to take pride in their efforts and be willing to challenge their minds for the sake of great success.

My Project

How many times have you been to an event and received a button? Or participated in a club meeting and you had to wear your button? There is something about a button. It makes you feel good, people can see who you are and what you represent. A button can speak volumes about you and what you know. The same is for students but these will be buttons they create to demonstrate their knowledge of the Science content, Science vocabulary and Science group/collaborative work. The use of buttons will be a weekly activity in my classroom. Students will create their own buttons to sum up words they learn, objectives they master and group related projects centered around Science. The more words, content and objectives/standards mastered, the more button they make to wear.

In donating to this project, you will help to improve and increase student project creativity and increase their success in project-based learning but you will know that you contributed to the academic/social achievement of students

Once a student masters a concept, he/she will create a button connected to that area of study. Also, in this technology literate world, students will use technology to create buttons images that represent what they have learned. The interaction with technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and value Science.
