Button Making in the STEAM Lab

Help me give my students a button maker and button making supplies to create their own buttons.

My Project

My students attend a public Pre-K through 8th grade Montessori school in Cleveland, Ohio. Our school is comprised of students from all over our city, which has one of the highest poverty rates in the nation. Our Montessori students follow a child-centered approach to develop each child physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively. Students learn in multi-age classrooms and remain with the same teacher for several years. My classroom is a STEAM Lab, where each student spends at least 8 weeks using technology and other building materials to create.

Most Maker Spaces like ours contain button makers.

We found one about 60 years old but it was too damaged to repair. We'd like to use the button maker during school events since they can be created and produced quickly with this machine. Having a button maker gives the students more options on how to express themselves when they come to the lab to create. The button maker will also be used by the robotics team to create team buttons to trade with other teams during competitions.
