My Project
Our school library is not only a place to get a great book, but a place to be yourself and find ways to express that! I've heard from many of my librarian colleagues that button making is not only a great activity for current library patrons, but a sure way to get more students into the school library!
With over 10 years experience in the school library, I know that getting students in the door is the first step to turning students into readers.
Just recently, I had students playing a card game "finally" spot the books after a week of coming to play, and some even checked them out!
Allowing kids to make buttons in the library will get them excited to come into my space. Using old books as material might even get students thinking about whether or not I have that title on the shelf! Our school library is a bustling space with areas for quiet study, conversation, reflection, and play, and this would be a perfect addition to our space!
