This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I recently saw a post from a librarian who promotes reading at her school by making buttons. The incentive is for students who finish a book get to make a button to promote the story. As an ELA teacher, this post spoke to me. I think this small button machine would be a great addition to my classroom and I requested an extra supply to make up to 200 buttons.
It is nothing I have done before and I think my students will be excited to create and build their own creations and wear them.
This would be fun treat for students to create in the classroom but I think it can extend outside of my reading center. Students can create slogans to spread kindness, activism, etc. and I cannot wait to see what they come up with!
