This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Butterflies in the inner city... are actually rare. My students look forward to my butterflies every year.

My students live in a large, urban city.

They all receive free breakfast and lunch. My students are 70% Hispanic and 30% African-American. I am the library and technology teacher and I serve all the students in my Preschool, K-8th grade school. My students have library once a week.

My Project

I have a butterfly habitat from a previous grant and my students will be able to watch the butterfly cycle with the new larvae and make observations as they go through the life cycle. All the students in the school get very excited about this annual event. In the spring, I will have a release party and the students enjoy going outside for this event. I feel they appreciate the beauty of the nature we are adding to this otherwise barren city neighborhood.

Your generous donation will ensure that my students appreciate the value of natural habitats, such as gardens and build respect for wildlife.

My students will be excited to see the changes in the caterpillars and be inspired to learn more about Monarch butterflies.
