My students need live animals so that they can experience what living organisms need to survive.

My Students

I teach in an urban area. All my students receive free lunches. They often lack the basic needs that we take for granted. They come to school hungry and unprepared to learn. Their parents can not provide them with the basic tools they need to succeed in school. Many of my students, who are only 6 years old, have already attended two or three schools.

However, they come to school curious, wanting to learn and explore, in a place that is safe and caring.

I do this by creating an environment that fosters their natural love for learning, a place where they can feel secure and cared about.

My Project

My intercity students do not get the chance to experience nature. I want them to observe and participate in the development of living organisms. They can watch hermit crabs drink and eat with their claws. They will see ants build their colony. And they will learn by observation how caterpillars change into butterflies.

Moreover , they will learn to be responsible by caring for our classroom 'pets'.

My students will understand how to care for our fish, hermit, crabs, and ants. They will feed the fish, and make sure the hermit crabs have food and water. They will learn first hand that living things need care to survive and thrive.
