This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember the Eric Carle's story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar? This project will bring to life the life-cycle of the caterpillar.

My students are 100% Latino.

90% are Limited English Proficient. This year, I have several parents that have limited schooling and all of my parents bring their children to school for a better opportunity. My parents are positive and my students are eager learners. We are in a large (700+) urban school in California.

My Project

I am ordering a Butterflies in the Classroom Kit. This Kit allows students to work hands-on with living butterflies. The student will experience placing larvae from a culture cup (larvae food) into an individual cup for observation. Once the chrysalis is formed, it is carefully transferred to the "Butterfly Sanctuary" where the metamorphosis will take place!

Eric Carle's story of the hungry caterpillar is a classic, but watching a real caterpillar grow and change into a beautiful butterfly is life-changing experience!

Especially for children that are restricted to their apartments all weekend and who have little or no experience with nature.
