My students need the live butterflies set to learn about the butterfly life cycle. We need the other stem kits and science supplies to help with other science units.
This year, I am working with a great bunch of first graders! In my class, I have 27 of the brightest and best (at least I think so)! They come to school hungry, looking for a safe environment to be themselves. Our school provides breakfast and lunch to our children.
My students and I have created a safe, engaging, homelike environment for us to learn and grow together.
We will use this time together for not only them to grow as students, soaking in information, reaching their goals and moving on to the next grade, but also for me to grow as a teacher.
That's where DonorChoose comes in. My students are from Detroit. Not everyone can buy school supplies, and our school is fairly new. We don't have all of the materials that well established schools have.
My Project
We love science! We just finished our Science Fair project, which was about how flowers need water to live! We have so much more science to explore before the end of the year, and my kiddos are excited! We would love to be able to experience the butterfly cycle in person! It is so much more engaging and rewarding, being able to watch the caterpillars grow! We would also love to be able to explore science with more STEM activities! Hands on learning is the best for these young kiddos, and by funding this project, you would be helping us to learn how we learn best!
