My Students

Curious, creative, determined, and engaged are just a few of the words that come to mind when I think about my students. Their enthusiasm for science is the source of my desire to deliver a top-notch science program.

We are a diverse school with students from all over the world and spanning all socio-economic groups.

This diversity pushes me to plan lessons that will give all my students the opportunity to be successful and follow their interests as they relate to the curriculum.

My Project

We study life cycles in our class. We already observe mealworms and how they change into beetles. Having the butterflies will allow them to compare and contrast these two insects’ life cycles. There is something magical about watching nature do its thing. In other words, we will use the butterflies, habitat, food, and all the requested supplies to observe the life cycle of butterflies to support our science curriculum. Students will observe, record, and learn from watching the caterpillars change into butterflies.

Having living creatures in the classroom helps teach students about stewardship for our planet and how to care for nature.

This allows students to connect the classroom with the garden and the bigger world we all share.
