But Soft! What Light Through Yonder Playbook Breaks...
My students need their very own copies of Romeo and Juliet for the Shakespeare unit, and I would love resources to enhance my teaching of this great play.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Reading the play, Romeo and Juliet, in the big bulky school textbooks are cumbersome and inconvenient. I have 9th graders, who have tons of energy. They would like nothing better than to get up and actually act out the play.
My kids come from a disadvantaged background.
For most of them, this will be their introduction to Shakespeare. Now, the playwright is daunting enough, but when you don't allow students the chance to "own" the play, it makes understanding the play very, very difficult.
These play books will not only allow my kids to get up and act, but it will also allow them the chance to interact with the play. Used as consumables, they will be able to highlight key sections, underline dialog that seem too challenging, and capture the beauty of Shakespeare's language.
My Project
Together with the play books, I am also asking for an E-Resource Pack. As a teacher, one of the key ways I can grow in my practice is to seek our new methods of teaching a particular text. This is why the pack is important to me. To use the same methodology for years is not effective teaching, and this new resource pack will help me keep up with today's trend in teaching.
At the end of the unit, the play book will be theirs to add to their own libraries at home.
I know that for many, this will be the first classic they will add to their collection. What a wonderful gift to give them!
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
