Busy Hands, Growing Minds

Help me give my students the opportunity to learn through sensory investigation. Little bodies often have a difficult time managing big emotions. Sensory bins offer a fun and therapeutic way for students to learn!

My Students

I am a kindergarten teacher at a low income school district in Missouri. Our district has undergone a major restructuring this year. We have transitioned to primary buildings that will serve pre-k-2nd grade students. The goal of this model is to give students a strong foundation to their educational career.

Sensory play/input is so important for little minds and bodies!

Offering students the opportunity to explore their environment with their whole body will create a positive learning experience that will impact future success.

My Project

Play is key to strong brain development! Students who have the opportunity to learn through hands on experience (play), have a better chance of retaining information long term.

Sensory play is crucial in kindergarten development!

Students begin to describe what they learning using their senses and communication with friends. Play also offers the opportunity to practice sharing and taking turns.

Fine and gross motor skills are enhanced by sensory bins. The ability to manipulate tools such as scoops and tweezers help prepare little hands for writing.

Sensory tubs are easily differentiated! Students of all ability levels are able to benefit from having these bins in the classroom. They are easily adapted to match the curriculum and support learning standards.
