My Project
My students have a new love..... and it thrills me to no end! It is BOWLING! I am not sure where the this love evolved but they use recess time to turn everything into a bowling game!
These sets will allow me to harness their love of bowling into engaging academic activities like reading and math!
My students are can use the numbered pins to add together pins that are knocked over, subtract from the total, or use the numbered pins in many other math activities.
The letters bowling will allow students to practice letter identification, letter sounds, and even decoding words! I would love to set up a word and have the students say each sound as they knock them over to read!
The animal bowling set can be used as a classroom incentive as well! Maybe the student who answers the comprehension question gets to roll, maybe the group that finishes their activity first gets a turn..... or maybe it is just a break and chance to move our busy bodies!
The stacking cups are another interest of my students and they love watching videos of cup stacking competitions. I can use these cups to create reading and math games or provide a break when needed!
Finally, the mouse and keyboard are very fancy .... way fancier than anything we currently use in the classroom! I want to try and use these for my students are hesitant to use technology. I am hopeful that the bright colors and fun lights will encourage students to try using a keyboard or mouse when they previously have not done so.
