Busy Baristas for the Community

My Project

Transitional and life skills are skills needed for students with special needs in order to gain employment and live a more productive life post-graduation.

The life skills we practice with our Coffee Shop include following a recipe, sequencing steps in an activity, fulfilling an order, appropriate social skills, sharing, peer-to-peer work, basic number recognition, reading and comprehension, and health and hygiene protocol are invaluable to these learners.

We would like to continue to expand our business to include more Coffee and Tea Selections. The goal is donate profits each week to our school community fund for families in need. The cups and supplies will help be able to package items to sell to staff and community members for the school year. We received such great feedback from our staff community about our coffee shop thus far. The students feel amazing when the teacher compliments their hard work. A simple cup of coffee has brought our community closer together. Now we would like to have the tools to expand our business and help our community in different ways all year long!
