Busy Baristas Café!

Help me give my students my the hands on tools they need to continue running their coffee shop.

My Project

Transitional and life skills are skills needed for students with special needs in order to gain employment and live a more productive life post-graduation. This project will help students gain experience in a school run coffee shop, while working on their individual education plan goal and objectives in the are area of transition skills. Each week students help find the recipe for the desert we feature, make it, and than package it for sale. Students will than serve the coffee to teachers by taking and fulfilling orders.

The life skills we practice with our Coffee Shop include following a recipe, sequencing steps in an activity, fulfilling an order, appropriate social skills, sharing, peer-peer work, basic number recognition, reading and comprehension, and health and hygiene protocol are invaluable to these learners.

The materials we are requesting are needed for our holiday cupcake event. We create seasonal holiday cupcakes for the teachers. This hands on learning project brings learning to life with both reading and math standards met in a meaningful way. Last year we received such great feedback from our staff community. The students feel amazing when the teacher compliments their hard work. All profits made from this project will go back to purchasing the supplies for the food products needed for the next week. A simple cup of coffee has brought our community closer together.
