Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I remember being the child who breezed through books and wanted more. In my classroom, as my students develop reading skills, they accelerate through available materials. My challenge is to supply them with good literature that is challenging and interesting.

My students come from culturally-diverse backgrounds with various socio-economic households.

They love to read, and often choose books over play, as they explore their world. I want to support their love of reading and have resources available as they grow.

My Project

My students are constantly making connections between books and enjoy series. Having sets of books that encourage this will make them stronger readers who will take more risks and be less hesitant to approach higher-lever books. As they grow, they encourage others to explore the world through books. The series offered by AKJ books that I am requesting fit the description of resources needed.

My students' faces light up when they see new books and when they see literature they can personally connect to.

Having sets of books that feature specific themes or characters lend themselves to discussions centered around books.
