This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My girls are dedicated to their schoolwork, their friends, their families and of course Volleyball! They know how important hard work is to improve their academic skills, as well as their volleyball skills. The love of volleyball, the joy it brings, and the satisfaction of a game played well, have only been possible through the support of those family and friends up to this point.
We want ALL girls who have a love for learning and excelling, especially on the volleyball court, to be able to play!
But school fundraisers can only get us so far. Our students have been challenged to reach unthinkable academic goals, yet they need an outlet to experience a normal high school environment via sports and extracurricular activities. We will be going into our fourth year of the volleyball program and are struggling financially to really help it grow to its full potential. The financial burden is too great for many students to pay for all of their own equipment, causing some students to be intimidated from even trying out.
My Project
These training tools will greatly help the ladies focus on skill development, along with the equipment needed to make it happen. The organizational tools will come in handy when they are confused about a position, or what is happening on offense or defense. The bags will help them to carry their gear without trying to stuff it into a backpack or having to use a plastic bag while traveling to games or home. And when they hit the floor for a dig, they need those knee pads for protection!
Hard work pays off and we are ready to put in the work.
Not too many things have been handed to these ladies, so what better gift than to help them in something they already work hard for? Last summer the girls conditioned three days a week and we saw hug improvements during our season. With your help, we could go a long way this fall!
