This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have a choice of where we want to live. My students do not. They have to live where they parents' live and their parents have to live where it is affordable.

I work with 25 first graders whom I've had to honor to also work with as kindergarteners.

It's been my privilege to watch them grow because I KNOW that they will all be a positive force in our little community. They attend a public school in a high poverty area of the city.

My Project

I am requesting some books on bullying and various other books because my children loves to hear stories and read stories that empowers them. And in order for my 6 year old to embody the message, I need the tablet for them to visit sites like PBS and Livestrong to play games like "Beat the Bully" and "Anti-bullying Games for Kids."

When young kids are confronted by a bully, they may not know what to do.

But this unit on bullies and the tablet at a learning center will enable them to learn and practice how to combat bullies. These lessons can then be shared and home and the message can keep on paying it forward. It's a sad epidemic and prevention needs to begin with the young.
