This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Bullying has become an epidemic in our nation’s schools. Students with special needs are at a higher risk of being bullied. I would like to use the anti-bullying literature and a laptop computer to provide PowerPoint presentations to teach my students how to protect themselves from bullies.
I teach in a large school with students who have special needs.
Many of them are second language learners from low-income households. My class consists of multiple grade and ability levels. Because they are performing far below grade level, my students are frequently ridiculed by their peers on the playground. As a result, many of my students suffer from low self-esteem and often become easy targets for bullies.
My Project
I am requesting Bullying in Schools and other literature to teach my students important social skills to avoid bullying. In addition, I am requesting a laptop computer to provide anti-bullying PowerPoint presentations for my students. My students will also be able to create and show their own presentations against bullying using this laptop.
During writing, my students require access to word processing programs to complete assignments due to their physical limitations. The laptop will provide them with equal opportunities to publish written work as their physically-abled peers.
With the use of anti-bullying resources and a laptop computer, I hope to build my students' confidence in themselves while teaching them how to handle bullies.
Knowledge of bullying and how to prevent it is important for my students' survival in school.
Providing access to computer technology will increase students' opportunities for success by allowing them to create and present their own anti-bullying messages. This project will provide access to anti-bullying resources and PowerPoint presentations for my students with special needs. We need to stop the cycle of bullying in schools! Thank you for your support!
