Building Zoos for STEM

Help me give my students a unique STEM experience planning and building model zoos! Students learn about area and perimeter, zoology, and design in a hands-on project. The drying rack will keep their projects safe from getting ruined!

My Project

This is a yearly project that I have done with my students in multiple grade levels. There is no better way to get students involved and take ownership in their own learning than to have them create something unique!

Students learn about using math and science in real world applications as they plan and "order" supplies to build their zoos.

Collaboration comes naturally as they work in pairs or small teams, ensuring all their measurements are correct and that each animal has enough space to live in these model habitats.

Please help us make this happen in our classroom! I teach a diverse group of second graders with tons of energy and innovative minds. I cannot wait to see their imaginations at work!
