Building Thinking Geometry Classroom

Help me give my students whiteboard compasses and markers for hands-on, collaborative learning in Geometry Class.

My Project

Whiteboard Compasses and markers will help my students work collaboratively while mobilizing the intelligence of the combined group. Students use geometric constructions to find solutions and demonstrate understanding while working with their team at vertical whiteboards around the room.

Team work, creativity, and mathematical flexibility abound in the thinking classroom.

Students help one other by sharing various strategies for finding real world solutions. These strategies include using real world math tools that are both hands-on and digital. One of the hands-on tools we use is a large compass for use on a whiteboard.

We need more compasses! Precious time is wasted when students have to wait for their turn to use the compass. Even worse, students are less likely to risk looking for novel, creative solutions when they know they will have to wait to use a compass. Help me to empower them to take brave, bold risks in mathematics.
