This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Music has the power to change our lives. In a community where language barriers often inhibit my students learning and every day conversation, learning the universal language of music helps us bond together as a class and team in order to be more successful in our every day lives.

My students are the businessmen, politicians, scientists, doctors and artists of the future.

This is what I see given their hard work ethic and strong desire to succeed. Many of my students face the challenges of a very difficult life, much more difficult than I and many of my peers faced as children. But they stay strong and true in what they believe and what they work for. Many of my students live below poverty, many are the primary care takers of younger siblings and many don't know where the next meal is coming from if it isn't given at school. Yet they blossom and shine brighter than you would ever imagine. They take great care and responsibility for what little they have in the classrooms because quite often it is all they have. We have been graciously using the minimal instruments we have and would be ecstatic to have the opportunity to further develop ourselves with Orff Instruments.

My Project

With this xylophone, my students will be able to further develop their musicianship than ever before. In the early stages, my students will be able to create accompaniments for a variety of songs we sing throughout the school year. In the intermediate levels, students will learn the physical technique of playing percussion instruments: mallet grip, notes on the keyboard, and various musical techniques. Students will also learn musical notation on a staff to help prepare them for Band and Strings in the later grades. In the advanced stages of Orff instruction, students will actually create their own music to be played and sung along with the instruments.

Music has the power to change lives for the better.

I know this because it happened to me. Music can keep kids active and learning in school even outside of the music classroom. I've seen the way music can change lives and with your donation, I can show you too. Please consider my students for your donations. My students are some of the most grateful people I have ever met.
