This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are some of the most incredible hardworking students I have ever met. All of them have obstacles they must face in and out of school and their perseverance is something to be sought after. They consistently remind me that life is not always easy and sometimes you are dealt a tough hand, but just put your head up and don't stop. This is my second year with this group of students and I am so excited to continue to work with them as they grow even more. As well as to continue to grow with them. We have a range of levels and emotions, but we together make a strong and incredible family!
My Project
Many of my students come from low socio-economic areas that make it difficult for them to get to the opportunities of learning. This year my classroom is having a huge focus of reading and reading content because reading is the basis of all subjects. Without the excitement and love for wanting to pursue a book or information, students will never strive to go looking for the next opportunity to grow and learn. Books, like opportunities, will not just fall in the laps of my students. I want to instill the desire and passion for seeking knowledge to go beyond just school. But in order to build that passion, I know I will need some help to get my students those building blocks to build that passion and knowledge-seeking for my incredibly well-deserving students.
We are asking for reading materials such as leveled books and phonics-based activity sets to get them EXCITED and confident for reading!
The books are to keep the students' interest and motivation to seek more. The phonics-based materials such as the folder games and word builder kit are to help my students build a stronger confidence and foundation for reading. The more confident the student is at decoding the reading, the more likely they are to enjoy reading! These are the materials requested and needed to help my students see and achieve their incredible potential.
