it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our high school is a Title I visual and performing arts school in downtown Los Angeles. Across eight periods, I teach math to around 200 students who are are talented, creative, and eager to learn. However, many struggle with organization, which can impact their confidence and success in math. To help them develop strong study habits, I am requesting binders and binder tabs for each student to keep their work structured and easily accessible.
These binders will serve as a central hub for their learning, containing homework assignments, a stamp sheet to track classwork completion and participation, and organized notes that synthesize each lesson.
With clearly labeled sections, students will be able to review past topics, track their progress, and take ownership of their learning journey.
My goal is to create a system that promotes accountability and reinforces the importance of organization as a key skill for success—not just in math, but in life. Our school has a full inclusion curriculum, which means that students in need of learning accommodations and special education support are part of the general education classes. Additionally, many of my students juggle responsibilities at home and school, and having a dedicated place for their work will help them stay on top of assignments, prepare for assessments, and feel more in control of their learning.
What makes my students special is their resilience and creativity. At a school that fosters artistic expression, they bring unique perspectives to math, and with the right tools, they can bridge the gap between structure and creativity. Your support will help empower them with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in math and beyond.
