This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a Title 1 school where all children get free lunch. They are a low socio/economic background. The children are eager learners who are curious about their surroundings both in school and in their community. Their curiosity extends to the books they read and the books that are read to them.

Due to most of my students who are from low-income homes, books are limited to them, as a support students are allowed to take home books every day to have at their leisure to read.

With this support, books are in constant demand.

My Project

My project will provide reading leveled books for the students that are age-appropriate for their individual reading levels to help support their reading. These books can be used for guided reading lessons to support their reading to build confident and independent readers. With the support of these books, my students can take books home to share with their parents and families to show how great they are doing in reading.

The confidence that my students will gain in themselves and their reading will give them a sense of pride and joy in knowing that they can read independently, and that will happen with the help of these books.
